Is it really legal to buy narcotics online?

I have seen online pharmacies claiming to be legal to obtain prescriptions via the phone and to purchase narcotics through online pharmacies and have the meds mailed to your home. Is this legal? I would hate to try this and have the DEA deliver my package...
