Is there a technical name for this type of haunting?

I have heard it said that buildings have a sort of memory; that the psychic energy created by evil and suffering with their walls is held like a battery holds a charge. This is often said to be true about hospitals and asylums-that so much suffering and death occurred there and left a sort of imprint. Is there is technical name for this phenomenon? I would like to read more about it, but don't know what it is called.
